WE GAVE BECAUSE HE FIRST GAVE
There are many wonderful charities in the world doing good work. But giving to the local church is different. It isn’t just philanthropy; it is a direct response to the gospel, anchored in three biblical truths:
There are many wonderful charities in the world doing good work. But giving to the local church is different. It isn’t just philanthropy; it is a direct response to the gospel, anchored in three biblical truths:
|
An Act of Worship “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion... which produces thanksgiving to God.” — 2 Corinthians 9:11 Worship doesn't stop when the music ends on Sunday morning. It involves our whole lives—including our finances. Returning a portion of what we have to God is a physical declaration that He is our true provider and that He holds first place in our hearts. It is a tangible way to say "thank you" to the One who gave us everything. |
A Response to Grace “He did not even spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything?” — Romans 8:32 Before God ever asks us to give, He gave to us first. He didn't hold back what was most precious to Him—His own Son—so that we could have life. When we realize the sheer size of God's grace, giving stops being a duty. It becomes our natural response. We give generously because we are loved by a radically generous Father. |
A Path to Freedom “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7 The truth is, the Creator of the universe doesn’t need our money to accomplish His mission. He invites us to give for oursake. Regular giving breaks the powerful grip that money can have on our hearts. It teaches us to trust God rather than our bank accounts, leading to a deep, lasting joy that money could never buy. |
